Edinburgh Pandas
So, we resisted the Edinburgh Panda story last week, but since they have now acclimatised to Scotland (which is no mean feat!), and are out and about and available for comment – it seems rude for the Friday# to snub them again.
The warmth among the British public towards the Panda’s has been growing steadily and they’ve also had a good deal of support in the US.
Let’s take a look at the worldwide sentiment they’ve provoked since landing at Edinburgh airport two weeks ago:

Although the chat on the pandas has slowed since they touched down, the positive sentiment towards them has been steadily building, hitting a peak today. The negative sentiment shown on the graph was not actually directed at the pandas in person, but the UK’s choice to accept a present from China.
Today’s enthusiasm has been prompted by the announcement of a 14 person panda patrol. A team which has been put in place to guide the massive influx of visitors from today as the pandas’ public awaits.
Let’s take a look at who has been talking about them in the last week:
Edinburgh Pandas – Top Tweeters
- @BBCBreaking
- @GMA
- @nbcnightlynews
- @HuffingtonPost
- @IanMartin
- @mfhorne
Interestingly the US has dominated the top tweeters list with regards to news outlets, but from a UK perspective, two of our top tweeters are once again comedians @IanMartin (The Thick Of It) and @mfhorne (Gavin and Stacey).
… A little more this week from the Christmas worms (you need sound).
